"Steve Scalise" by American Life League
House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.) called for an additional reconciliation bill focused on tax policy last week, telling Politico that Republican leadership “already had teed up” legislation focused on tax provisions.
Grover Norquist, President of Americans for Tax Reform, released the following statement praising Leader Scalise’s call for another tax bill:
“Voters handed Republicans control of the White House, Senate and House with a mandate for lower taxes and greater economic growth. The GOP delivered for voters by making the Trump Tax Cuts permanent, cutting taxes across the board, for every income level. But conservatives cannot sit still. We need more growth. We now have an opportunity now to build upon that success of the Working Families Tax Cuts with additional pro-growth tax relief that boosts wages and allows taxpayers to keep more of their own money. Leader Scalise is right to seize this opportunity and I applaud him for leading the charge.”
Leader Scalise’s call for an additional reconciliation bill was echoed by Speaker Johnson on Monday, with Punchbowl News reporting that Johnson is telling fellow House Republicans that he is interested in a fourth reconciliation bill.
Americans for Tax Reform supports this effort from House Republicans to provide further pro-growth tax cuts through reconciliation.
