The CEO of United Airlines, Scott Kirby, called for imposing a new national wealth tax on Americans as well as hiking the death tax rate to 100 percent.

“We should have a national wealth tax — it won’t work by state because people will just move,” Kirby told the New York Times in a recent interview. “And I think we should have inheritance taxes that get close to 100 percent at some level. I would pay them.”

Recent EY study on found a global wealth would reduce jobs by 20 million in first 10 years.

A new macroeconomic analysis from EY finds that a 2 percent minimum tax on billionaire wealth imposed globally would reduce jobs by up to 20 million in the first 10 years.

The study estimates the following average annual costs over the first ten years (relative to the size of the 2025 global economy):

  • Global GDP reduced by an average of $80 billion per year. After the first ten years, the damage gets even worse, with global GDP reduced by an average of $120 billion per year.
  • Global employment reduced by an average of 2.0 million jobs each year.
  • Global labor income reduced by an average of $10 billion each year. After the first ten years, global labor income is reduced by an average of $50 billion each year.

Kirby volunteered to pay these taxes himself. Good news, he already can!

Kirby volunteered to pay these tax hikes himself. He now has the chance to put his money where his mouth is.

Americans are already allowed to voluntarily contribute money to the U.S. Treasury’s “tax me more” fund.

Kirby has the opportunity to set an example by cutting a check to the IRS for 5 percent of his total wealth (the level of wealth tax on the ballot in California this election) as a completely voluntary extra tax donation.

It would be very easy for Kirby to do so:

-Kirby can simply go to Pay.gov and make the donation electronically.

-Kirby can also write a check and mail it to:
