Vice President JD Vance traveled to Ohio on Thursday to speak about the Trump administration’s economic record and the impact of the list of tax cuts in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA).
During a visit to Midwest Terminals in Maumee, Vance noted the Trump administration rewards work instead of punishing it. He said the OBBBA moves Washington in a different direction by lowering the tax burden on workers, allowing families to keep more of their own money.
Vance said:
“The Trump administration believes that you earned it. You ought to keep it, and we ought to keep our hands the hell out of your pocket in Washington DC.”
“The IRS says that this is going to be the biggest tax refund year in the history of the United States of America, and I know there are a lot of far left Democrats who don’t like it when the government gives you back your hard-earned money.”
“It’s because the president, working with the Republican Congress, got no taxes on tips. It’s because we got no taxes on overtime. It’s because we got no taxes on Social Security. Three promises that we ran on, three promises the President of the United States kept.”
“Because of it, every single person in this room and every single person in the state of Ohio is going to benefit from it.”
“Under the Biden administration, you lost an average of $3,000 over those four years because inflation was out of control and wages were stagnant.”
“Under the first year of the Trump administration, you’ve already gained over $1,300 in real wage gains.”
“We have lower inflation, bigger paychecks, and more opportunity for the American worker.”
“The new Trump accounts and the increased child tax credit are coming online.”
Vance noted the One Big Beautiful Bill Act respects workers and puts families in a better position to save, spend, and plan for the future. A tax code that works for the people who earn the money, not the politicians who spend it.
