Americans for Tax Reform President Grover Norquist released the following statement in support of the House’s reconciliation package:
“The House’s reconciliation package delivers on President Trump’s campaign promise of across-the-board income tax cuts for ALL income groups. By passing this bill, Republicans are protecting taxpayers from the largest tax increase in American history by extending the 2017 Trump tax cuts while building upon their success with additional pro-growth tax relief. This bill will raise take-home pay for workers, create jobs, boost manufacturing and grow the American economy to outcompete China and Europe.
This bill also unleashes American energy production to lower prices for American households while repealing the disastrous Green New Deal subsides of the Biden administration that drove inflation by forcing taxpayers to fund corporate welfare for Democrat special interests.
This legislation makes historic improvements to buttress our Medicaid system – a program designed to help pregnant women, the disabled, the elderly, and children – by implementing common sense work requirements for able-bodied adults. These improvements prioritize care for the most vulnerable Medicaid recipients, save the program from financial ruin, and are overwhelmingly supported by voters.
Advancing the House reconciliation bill is a crucial step towards delivering the economic agenda conservatives campaigned on and proves to voters that the Republican party is the party of lower taxes, less government and greater economic opportunity.
