The passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) permanently reduces taxes for hard-working Americans across the nation. Small businesses can sigh in relief thanks to President Trump and Republicans in congress for preventing a $4 trillion tax hike.

Small Business Tax Cut: The Deduction for Qualified Business Income (199a) is Permanently Extended and Enhanced

One provision under the bill, the Qualified Business Income (199a) deduction is now extended permanently to 20 percent. Further tax relief is provided by a loosening of the phase in of limitations by increasing the $50,000 (non-joint returns) and $100,000 (joint returns) amounts to $75,000 and $150,000, respectively. 

Originally implemented under President Trumps first term in office, the deduction allows small businesses (partnership, S corporation, sole proprietorship, etc.) to deduct up to 20% of their net business income from their income taxes. This allows business owners to not only grow their businesses but also reinvest in their communities and employees.  

In Nevada, the OBBBA saves over 212,000 small businesses from paying a top marginal income rate over 43.3 percent. In the state, 99.3 percent of all businesses are organized as small businesses. This means that roughly 500,000 Americans or 42 percent of Nevada’s workforce would have been subject to tax hikes. 

The One Big Beautiful Bill Protects Nevadans from: 

  • An average tax hike of $3,681 in 2026 
  • 60,000 jobs at risk of loss 
  • Child tax credit cut in half for 369,070 families 
  • Death tax exemption cut in half for 3,122 family-owned farms 

 Advancements for Nevada citizens from the One Big Beautiful Bill: 

  • 500,000 Seniors will benefit from no taxes on social security 
  • Increased wages of about $3700 to $6700 over the next four years 
  • Higher take-home pay for the average family of about $7300 to $10500 
  • 20% of all employees will benefit from no tax on overtime 
  • 70% of workers are likely eligible for overtime 
  • Enhanced incentives to all 61 Opportunity Zones in the state 

The One Big Beautiful Bill Act is for Americans made by Americans. The legislation shields the nation from burdensome tax increases, while putting its citizens first. Small businesses can continue to grow with the now permanent deduction, further expanding the US economy. Nevadans alongside all Americans will see positive change thanks to this key piece of legislation.
