Congresswoman Van Duyne at ATR Tax Day Event

Key House Ways and Means Committee member Beth Van Duyne (R – Texas) provided remarks at Americans for Tax Reform’s annual Tax Day Eve press conference on Tuesday April 14.

Van Duyne said:

“I want to thank you all for being here and I want to thank Grover and ATR for years of leadership and a special thanks to the small businesses who are joining us today to talk about how the Working Families Tax Cuts are helping them to expand and keep more of what they earn and continue to be drivers of our economy.

I can tell you from the meetings that I had being at home in North Texas last week, that our job creators really appreciate how we were able to prioritize their ability to grow and invest in their future and focus on the private sector job growth, rather than the four years of the Biden administration, which preferred vast amounts of government expansion.

And whether or not it was using the permanent 20% pass through deduction that ensures our small businesses have long term tax certainty to plan and to save; full and immediate expensing for investors and investments in equipment and technology, but especially in the emerging age of AI, our machinery to expand their operations.

Small businesses in North Texas are growing and growing thanks to the reforms that we delivered in the Working Families Tax Cuts Bill.

Maybe this should come as no surprise for those of one of the fastest expanding regions in the country, north Texas and Texas in general, but I can tell you that while these massive pro-growth, pro supply side reforms were signed into law last Independence Day, that they had literally an immediate impact on the enthusiasm in North Texas. And just knowing that these reforms were coming actually led to business expansion there.

So when we held our fourth North Texas job fair last August, the response from businesses and employers was the largest that we have ever seen. More than 500 businesses from, fortune 500 companies to mom and pop shops; they took part in this job fair and we had over 35,000 people that showed up looking for a new career, looking for better benefits, new opportunities to take care of their families and solidify their economic security, making this the largest job fair in the country.

When you see firsthand this kind of impact to strengthen our private sector, that’s when you know that our steadfast commitment to focus on Main Street expansion over Wall Street or over Washington bureaucracy is making a difference. It’s making a difference in the lives of American citizens who deserve to earn more, keep more, and be free of the destructive years of the Biden-Harris and unified democratic control.

This tax day let’s recommit ourselves to strengthening America’s small businesses, our vital middle class, and renew our determination to further limit federal taxation and regulation so that our hardworking American job creators are free to do what they do best, and that’s innovate. Serve new customers, uplift our nation in ways that no government program could ever pretend to achieve.

And thank you again for being here and a thousand thanks to Grover for years of his persistence to pass these kinds of tax reforms that strengthen our nation and secure an America future for our children and our grandchildren.
