ATR Urges Senate to Support Nomination of E.J. Antoni

Americans for Tax Reform urges the United States Senate to confirm President Trump’s nomination of E.J. Antoni to lead the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).

President Trump announced last month that he intends to nominate E.J. Antoni as the new Commissioner of Labor Statistics, where he would take on the important role of leading the federal agency responsible for collecting and publishing data on labor markets. Most recently, Antoni has worked as the Chief Economist at the Heritage Foundation and Senior Fellow at Unleash Prosperity. He holds a Ph.D. in economics from Northern Illinois University.

“E.J. Antoni is a serious economist who will bring much needed expertise to the BLS. Throughout his career, Antoni has been a consistent voice for sound, pro-growth economic policy. I applaud President Trump’s excellent pick of Antoni to lead the BLS. The Senate shouldn’t let attacks by leftwing politicians delay his confirmation,” said Grover Norquist, President of Americans for Tax Reform.

President Trump selected Antoni to restore confidence and accuracy to the jobs reports numbers publish by the federal agency. Antoni has also expressed his intention to ensure that statistics published by the BLS are accurate and unbiased.

“If confirmed, I intend to lead the Bureau into the 21st century to ensure that our statistics are as accurate as possible, presented consistently and in a timely manner,” Antoni said in a recent visit with Senator Markwayne Mullin (R-Okla.).

The Senate should support the nomination of E.J. Antoni to ensure a more efficient Bureau of Labor Statistics that can provide crucial information to the American people.
