If there is one thing proponents of cap & tax hate, it's facts. As they cloak their job-killing household tax hikes in the rhetoric of environmentalism, and magical "green jobs", they will do anything to keep actual data out of the debate.

We noted previously some of the the results of the only independent studies into just what the effects of Green Jobs are. How in Spain for every "green job" created, 2.2 regular jobs were lost, and only one in 10 of the newly created green jobs became a permanent job. How in Germany per-worker subsidies as high as 175,000 € (US $ 240,000), and whatever jobs are created by renewable energy promotion will vanish as soon as government support is terminated.

Today, a new report was released about the cost of Green Jobs in New Zealand. The conclusion? "It would be cheaper for the New Zealand taxpayer to pay every single Tiwai Point worker and contractor $200,000 per annum for the rest of their lives to simply stay home

As carbon-expert Kent Duston of Wellington-based Autonomic Consulting commented "We keep hearing that it's jobs, jobs, jobs, but nobody is asking the questions about the cost of those jobs". Indeed.
