ATR Energy Fact of the Day: Cap-and-Trade Costs U.S. 2.5 million jobs
From Brian M Johnson on Tuesday, June 30, 2009 3:46 PMATR Energy Fact of the Day: Cap-and-Trade Costs U.S. 2.5 million jobs
ATR Condemns House Passage of Democrat National Energy Tax Bill
WASHINGTON, D.C. –Americans for Tax Reform (ATR) continues to oppose H.R. 2454, the “American Clean Energy and Security Act,” otherwise known as “cap-and-tax” or the National Energy Tax bill. The bill passed 219-212, with 211 Democrats siding with Nancy Pelosi to support the broadest tax increase this year. Eight Republicans crossed party lines to support the Democrat bill.
Fact: Cap-and-Trade will increase American unemployment by 2 million jobs in 2012, and reach 2.5 million by 2035.
“The working class is the first to suffer if Waxman-Markey passes the U.S. Senate. Cap-and-Trade is nothing more than a massive national energy tax that forces employers to cut jobs or ship them overseas, both resulting in fewer American jobs,” says Grover Norquist, President of Americans for Tax Reform. “Given the current unemployment rate, nearly 10%, it is hard to imagine how legislators could promote job loss – hurting the people they are elected to serve.”

I don't suppose you'd care to tell us how you arrived at this unemployment figure, would you?

Dear Kool-Aid drinker FREYA, You seem like one of those people who loves the Russian system. Why don't you move there and leave the U.S. with real Americans. Government is not a solution to our problem, Government is the problem. (Ronald Reagan)

The footnote did not transfer. These numbers are taken from the Center for Data Analysis at The Heritage Foundation. Several organizations, including the National Black Chamber of Commerce, US Chamber, and the Bookings Institute have projected staggering job losses as well. Also, as a reminder, please remain polite and courteous in the comment section. Thanks, ATR

We are now seeing "The *King* of PORK BARREL SPENDING" (Obama and his Congress) at it's best, and we will never see it like we have in the past six months and are about to see in the next four years. Simply contact your utility company and ask what the new energy bill will cost individual taxpayers over the next decade. Mine stated it will raise ours anywhere from 40-80% during the next decade. We are now being censored more than I have seen in my lifetime, and the media that paid The Lord of the Flies' way now scramble to cover up one of the greatest blunders in American history. Just Google "obama insane". http://community.whptv.com/forums/thread/4183573.aspx

There is nothing in this bill to promote large quantites of energy production. It takes 1,200 windmills, when the wind is really blowing, to replace one nuclear generating facility and how many people work at a windmill? Nuclear produces about 20% of U.S. electricity and it accounts for 80% of the non poluting electricity production. Obama thugs can't get nuclear to roll past their lips! It's insanity to think that the best way to promote alternative energy is to raise the cost of the current methods. I hope that enough of us are pay attention to put a stop to this!!!

The Heritage Foundation's "data" is always fudged to meet their agenda. No one credible would use it. As for the U.S. Chamber of Horrors they are a lobbying organization representing large transnational corporations, operating in America for profit, talking the profits off shore and not paying taxes, and they are not American. FACT: A Sept 2008 GAO report stated that 65% of corporations don't pay corporate tax. Freya is absolutely right when asking WHERE is the data coming form because its insulting to adults. Michael chose the low road using insults and flames rather than logic, and that's inappropriate for what should be a professional forum.

Rosiemeow seems to have forgotten that the bush/cheney crime cabal ran up more debt in just eight years than all prior administrations combined. This is calling the kettle black. The reality is that "The *King* of PORK BARREL SPENDING" was actually george bush. 3 tax cuts during 2 wars is inconceivable. You'd think ATR would know that. Obama is trying to get the economy moving and economists such as Noble Prize winner Paul Krugman will tell you what's needed is consumer spending. In an economy where 70% of GDP is consumer spending its important to get money moving in country.

There are lots of different kinds of Corporations! I owned an incorporated contruction firm that didn't pay taxes. All profits were dispersed at the end of the year and the owners paid personal income tax with the profits added to what ever income you earned elsewhere. There are corporations, and there are corporations, and there are corporations.

Nah, I didn't forget the Bush era. However, let's look at who's getting this stimulus money -- MICROSOFT??? Hurting pretty bad, aren't they? And the B.O. administration is giving this hefty windmill contract to one of the Top Ten Toxic Polluters in the Nation - G.E.. Funny thing with the windmills going up - they're killing off all the birds of prey. That's not a good thing. Have a look at the Recovery.Org site and see where this bogus print-press money's going. It is insane. This administration and what they are doing is pure insanity.
