BLS inflation calculator shows she must raise her tax pledge threshold to $482,144

Since 2020 Kamala Harris has repeatedly promised she will not raise any tax on any American earning less than $400,000. “Taxes will not be raised on anyone making less than four hundred thousand dollars a year,” Harris said.

But Harris inflation has eroded that dollar amount since she took office in January 2021:

The Harris tax pledge is now worth only $331,850 in January 2021 dollars, according to the federal government’s BLS inflation calculator updated today.

Harris would need to raise the threshold to $482,144 in today’s dollars to keep up her end of the deal, again per the federal government’s BLS inflation calculator.

Harris cast the deciding vote on one of the biggest drivers of Biden-Harris inflation: The American Rescue Plan.

Due to Harris inflation, every month more and more households get swept into her tax-hike maw. But Harris continues to use the $400,000 figure, hoping Americans won’t notice.

If elected, Harris will violate the pledge at any level, just as Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, and Joe Biden broke their “middle class” and $250k and $400k tax pledges, respectively.

Every month, Americans for Tax Reform will announce the amount of the Harris tax pledge erosion as the new inflation data is released.
